Find out how one couple turned a successful marriage into a thriving business venture.
Pam and Scott Stowell have a very special relationship. They share friendship as well as companionship, and like most happily married people they want to see other singles also find their perfect partner. As a happily married woman, Pam was often approached for relationship advice, and had been matching friends and family up on dates for years. She understood that finding someone special who enjoys the same activities and has similar goals could be difficult at best.
While Scott had spent over twenty years as a successful Central New York businessperson, he, too, decided to focus his time and energy on working with people in a more fulfilling way. After twenty years together, the Stowell’s couldn’t imagine dating again themselves, and wondered how singles today managed to meet quality people. This thought prompted a business idea, and after doing some research the Stowell’s started Lunch Appeal, a Central New York based matchmaking and lunch dating firm.
Today, Lunch Appeal has over 270 clients, ranging in age from 24-68. While they cater to upscale professionals, their clients come from all walks of life and with varied backgrounds. The one quality they do share in common is a desire to meet the right individual. Some clients that seek out Lunch Appeal are just too busy to put themselves out in the dating market, while others join after having been disappointed with their online dating experience.
In getting to know their clients, Lunch Appeal’s matchmaking consultants discover many facets of their personality through confidential, face-to-face interviews. An initial meeting lasts approximately one hour, where consultants determine if timing, mind frame, and stage of life are all in sync to ensure success for a long-term relationship.
Lunch Appeal focuses on quality introductions, screening every new member to make certain those that apply maintain honesty and forthrightness. They personally interview and select matches for every member, ruling out people who have little chance of compatibility. Once complete, they set up the entire first date, whether it be an after work drink, lunch, dinner, or just coffee. After each meeting, they get feedback from both parties about compatibility, to further develop a good feel for individual preferences and personalities.
For those not open to personalized matchmaking, Lunch Appeal also holds events, allowing clients and non-clients alike the ability to meet new singles in a relaxed atmosphere.
The Stowell’s take great pleasure in helping singles through Lunch Appeal. Says Pam, “The personal satisfaction I receive from bringing individuals together is my biggest reward.” For additional information on Lunch Appeal, visit their website.
